How do I figure out what to do with my life? How do I find the meaning of my existence?

Yes, that is a bit philosophical and broad so I can understand some answers that merely suggest a process to find an answer which is fine. I just want some direction on what are reasonable ways to answer these questions that I've had for a while now but I'm not sure who I could ask without seeming dumb or weird.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/45/can-a-private-company-enforce-parking-tickets/46#46Answer by JB King for Can a private company enforce parking tickets?JB King2010-02-08T15:26:10Z2010-02-08T15:26:10Z
A different line to consider here is to call them and tell them the situation that there wasn't an attendant and see if they'd wave the fine. I've done it before and it did work once for me.

As for the original question, there is a case that they could file a claim against the owner of that vehicle and report what was done, in this case trespassing comes to mind as an initial compliant that one could file. Alternatively, they may claim that by parking on their lot you agreed to terms and they want to enforce those terms.

While it may seem like an empty threat, you never know how karma will come back and allegedly it can be pretty ugly in some cases.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/43/how-do-you-know-if-a-charity-organization-is-reputable/44#44Answer by JB King for How do you know if a charity organization is reputable?JB King2010-02-05T15:31:29Z2010-02-05T15:31:29Z
Assuming you mean within Canada or the US, there are various registrations required to be a charity so that donations can receive tax receipts to use when deducting for income tax purposes.

There are also sites like CharityNavigator.org that can rate various charities that can be useful.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/39/my-boyfriend-wont-show-affection/40#40Answer by JB King for my boyfriend wont show affectionJB King2010-02-01T15:00:52Z2010-02-01T15:00:52Z
This sounds like a communication breakdown. If he were more affectionate with you, what changes could he see that would indicate that this was a worthwhile thing to him? In a sense this does have a "What's in it for him?" ring to it, as you want him to change without it being a forced change, right? "How To Get A Man To Do Whatever You Want - Ed Kang" is a discussion over on Facebook that may have some useful points to consider. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" would be another set of ideas to read and consider if any may apply in your situation. Lastly, beware of "4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse - John Gottman Research" as lines like this raise a yellow flag for me:

He's always spending time on the computer or watching tv.

Doesn't he do other things too like sleep, bathe, eat, and work? You may have to figure out what are those things that for him are important and significant and support him in those along with making sure he has incentives for showing affection. If he gives you a hug, is there going to be some remark of how inadequate it was or, "Why don't you do that more often?" that may be seen as something disrespectful in some ways.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/37/love-with-or-without-him/38#38Answer by JB King for Love, with or without himJB King2010-01-15T20:39:03Z2010-01-15T20:39:03Z
Do you believe someone that cheats can still be good? It appears so, but give that some thought as well as the question of what focus does he have on your life. If he disappeared, would you quit your job and try to find him for the rest of your days? Granted that it isn't a really pleasant thought, but consider whether or not you can accept being with someone that cheats. What you call cheating is up to you, but just think carefully about if this was someone else, what you recommend for that person?

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/33/long-gone/35#35Answer by JB King for long gone...............JB King2010-01-04T14:32:11Z2010-01-04T14:32:11Z
If by summer you mean the June-September season, you still have a lot of time to get ready in a sense. Why aren't you moving with him? Is this a permenant move or a temporary one? Those are a couple of questions that come to mind as while one can stay in touch through phone and e-mail, it isn't quite the same and so figuring out how to still see one another is probably worth discussing to some extent.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/29/want-to-help-myself-but-not-sure-which-way-to-turn/31#31Answer by JB King for Want to help myself, but not sure which way to turn!JB King2009-12-08T15:44:48Z2009-12-08T15:44:48Z
Could you help your spouse to try to make a better living? My other main suggestion would be to see if you could get counselling as that may be better than asking an on-line Q & A site. Lastly, do you have stuff that you could sell on kijiji or eBay? That's another idea possibly. Good luck with whatever choices you make.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/20/why-wont-my-boyfriend-wont-show-affection/26#26Answer by JB King for Why won't my boyfriend won't show affection?JB King2009-11-06T18:48:51Z2009-11-06T18:48:51Z
My suggestion would be to do some research about love, at least in terms of a couple different philosophies:

Gary Chapman: “5 Love Languages”

Re:Life: “Love and Respect: Why Relationships Fail and How to Beat the Odds.”

Note: There may be other ideas out there that I just don't know, but I do know a bit about these and believe them to be quite insightful.

Those may offer some ideas for how to get some understanding of his perspective as what you may have to figure out is what are you willing to do to encourage him to be affectionate as there could well be things he'd like to have happen more often that may make him want to be more affectionate in a positive way rather than doing it out of obligation.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/17/my-friend-is-being-cheated-on-should-i-tell-her/25#25Answer by JB King for My friend is being cheated on, should I tell her?JB King2009-11-06T15:43:39Z2009-11-06T15:43:39Z
IMO, you can't tell her without upsetting her in some way that she may well blame on you for trying to mess up her denial. While you don't want to see her used, how well do you know that she is being used? That "other woman" you saw may have been a lot of different possible scenarios and if you do jump in, are you prepared to handle a number of questions that stepping into this would bring? For example:

What did he say? What did she say?

What was the subtext of their conversation?

Were there any PDAs or hand holding done?

What were they wearing?

Did she look like a cheap date?

...

Are you really prepared for that? I don't think I would be and if I had a friend in that much denial, I'd likely let sleeping dogs lie but that is me.
