I parked in a small parking lot the other night, and there was no attendant in site. When I got back to my car two hours later there was a ticket on my car, and on just about every other car in the lot.

The ticket lists fines that increase by day up to a certain point before the ticket goes to collections.

But can they actually enforce that kind of policy? It seems as if they deliberately left out the attendant for a $5 parking space so they could charge every car that night a $15-$75 fine.

They do have my licence plate# but that's it, but that info is protected by the DMV isn't it? So is this just an empty threat so they can get more money, or should I actually try to pay them off for their underhanded policy in order to stay out of trouble?

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/43/how-do-you-know-if-a-charity-organization-is-reputableHow do you know if a charity organization is reputable?Mike2010-02-05T02:54:20Z2010-02-05T15:31:29Z

There are a lot of charities out there, for an ever increasing number of special causes. I'm considering donating some time/money to a specific charity, but how do I know if that charity is reputable and not just some guy who threw up a web page?

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/39/my-boyfriend-wont-show-affection/41#41Answer by Mike for my boyfriend wont show affectionMike2010-02-01T17:42:30Z2010-02-01T17:42:30Z
To a certain extent I think it's normal for physical affection to decrease over time, as you get "used" to a person. But at the same time it doesn't sound good at all that he gets angry when you bring things up, or that he expects you to be at his beck and call all the time. He may just be taking you for granted... but that's the most optimistic possibility I can think of.

First of all, stop doing everything for him any time he asks. You love him, good. But you need to be your own person too, or he won't be able to respect you. You'll just be the person who does things for him. Go out with your friends, have fun, spend time apart so he misses you and realizes you won't always be there.

But most importantly, you may need to just sit down and talk to him about this. Not "hug me and hold hands now or else" but just calmly talk to him about how you need more physical displays of affection.

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/32/is-it-possible-to-maintain-a-new-relationship-with-someone-who-is-going-off-to-baIs it possible to maintain a new relationship with someone who is going off to Basic Training?Mike2009-12-26T21:22:31Z2009-12-30T00:10:49Z

So I met this girl a couple months ago, and we finally started dating the first week in December. Things were going really well with her, but just before we started going out she signed up for the National Guard. We discussed that a couple weeks ago, and she thought there would be a few months until she actually went off to Basic so we were going to see where things headed in the meantime. Then she got the paperwork, and it turns out she's leaving in 2 weeks.

I know some people can make long distance relationships work, but this is still a pretty new relationship. Is it possible to still grow a new relationship long distance?

And does anyone have experience with the Guard? Will she even have time to talk to me during basic? I can't imagine she gets to bring her cell phone... do they get computer access or anything so we could chat at night? Even going to visit is going to be expensive... I'm on the opposite side of the country from her base (Arizona, but I don't know the exact city yet) and ticket prices seem to range from $250-$400.

EDIT: Just got great news! She's been bumped back for another couple months, so we'll probably be in a better position to judge things by then! May still need the advice on handling long distance relationships though... or at least this could be helpful for others. :)

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/17/my-friend-is-being-cheated-on-should-i-tell-her/19#19Answer by Mike for My friend is being cheated on, should I tell her?Mike2009-10-22T15:00:57Z2009-10-22T15:00:57Z
Considering your friend is already the "other woman" she may very well be willing to share. She's clearly willing to take the risk, probably because she is lonely. Perhaps something more subtle, such as introducing her to someone better, would be the best course.

A former co-worker called and asked for a favor. When he was with the company, he (ahem!) “borrowed” some old office equipment from storage. He now wants me to return it for him. What should I do? Put it back? Inform my boss?

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/1/should-i-set-up-as-a-sole-proprietorship-or-an-llcShould I set up as a Sole Proprietorship or an LLC?Mike2009-10-02T14:42:01Z2009-10-18T11:20:58Z

I'm starting up a website, and wondering how I should set up the business around it. Sole proprietorship probably sounds like the easiest, but I've heard that there are some limitations in how banks will deal with you in that case. Is there any real reason to consider doing an LLC?

Also should I set up a separate business account with a bank to handle the funds from the website?

I use a water pick instead of flossing, and I'm wondering how long I should wait before I start using it around the tooth that just got pulled. It's been over two weeks, so I feel like it should be safe... but I'm a little paranoid. Any thoughts?

http://www.dearvesta.com/questions/7/what-goes-with-tea/8#8Answer by Mike for What goes with tea?Mike2009-10-11T15:16:45Z2009-10-11T15:16:45Z
I had the same issue a couple weeks ago. Others had brought cheese and crackers, finger sandwiches, a couple people made scones... I ended up buying brownies at the grocery store. You could also ask whoever else is going to be there what they are bringing, so you can try to bring something different.
